Michael van Gerwen's astonishing winning run continued as he claimed the Players Championship Finals for a third consecutive year.
The World No.1 thrashed Welshman Jonny Clayton to take the big prize in Minehead yet again.
James Wade's run came to an end in the quarter-finals in Minehead, as the Unicorn man was beaten by Rob Cross.Â
Despite a 121 finish, Wade found himself 4-1 down and the big moment came in the 10th leg. The Team Unicorn star was sat on 44 to get the match back to only 6-4 behind
It was a night to forget for former Players Championship winner Gary Anderson in Minehead.Â
Still clearly hampered by a back strain that he picked up at the Grand Slam semi-final last weekend, the Team Unicorn star slumped to a 6-3 1st Round defeat to Irishman Mickey Mansell.Â
Gary has also been concerned by matters away from Darts with his baby daughter in hospital with respiratory problems.Â
From the moment he missed five darts to break Mansell in the opening leg, it went wrong for the
Joe Cullen has enjoyed the best year of his darting career.Â
Now he has been rewarded with a new long-term deal and a prestigious promotion to Maestro at Team Unicorn.Â
"Together we have a great relationship and a great partnership. To be become a Maestro is reward for the hard work I have put in and it would be great to deliver more titles for Unicorn. That's the big aim certainly!" Cullen said.Â
The 28-year-old has enjoyed a stellar year, winning a spot inside the world's top 20 for the
Gary Anderson will be kicking himself.Â
He lost the most dramatic semi-final in the history of the Grand Slam as he was beaten 16-15 by Peter Wright.
The only time Wright was ahead in the entire match was when he landed the winning D16.Â
Anderson will be heartbroken. He had played beautifully in the semi-final but the Unicorn man threw away a 13-7 lead.

James Wade bowed out of the Grand Slam on Thursday after a hugely disappointing defeat to Daryl Gurney.Â
The Unicorn man will head home with much to ponder after losing 10-2 to the Irishman. At one leg apiece, he was in the match but after that 'The Machine' was ground down.Â
With the Players Championship Finals followed by the big one at the Alexandra Palace, Wade knows he has a lot of work to do.
Gurney won six legs on the spin to open up a 7-1 advantage and there was no coming back from
Last year's Grand Slam runner-up James Wade has qualified for the knock-out stages of the Grand Slam in Wolverhampton.Â
The Unicorn man will face Daryl Gurney in the last 16 after grabbing a lifeline on Tuesday night.Â
He needed Robbie Green to lose against Australian Peter Machin.....a Green win and it was just about all over but he didn't get going and was beaten 5-3.
So that meant Wade has to beat Phil Taylor to qualify and despite being far from his best, that's exactly what he did!

It was an incredible all-Unicorn Grand Slam showdown, but the master beat the pupil in emphatic fashion as Gary Anderson saw off Michael Smith to go through to the quarter-finals.Â
What a match and what a performance from Anderson as he won 10-6, but take nothing away from Smith who played superbly and piled the pressure on his great friend!
But it was Anderson who came up with the darting magic and he will now face Mensur Suljovic in the quarter-finals on Friday.Â

Team Unicorn star Gary Anderson proved yet again why he is a top player and a top person as he became the first man to qualify for the knock-out stages at the Grand Slam of Darts.
The Scot beat Berry van Peer 5-1 with a superb average of nearly 112 to go through to the last 16 but was full of praise and support for the young Dutchman who is struggling badly with dartitis.Â
Van Peer has overcome the problem once before but it returned at this week's PDC Unicorn World Youth Championship. He somehow
It was another dramatic night in Wolverhampton, but Michael Smith has made it through to the knock-out stages at the Grand Slam.
But he was forced to face a nail-biting wait before qualification was finally confirmed. The Unicorn man did his bit as he won a thrilling last leg decider to beat BDO No.1 Mark McGeeney.....but he was then left sweating on the result of the last match in the group between Mensur Suljovic and James Wilson.
Quite simply, a Suljovic win and Smith was through, but a Wilson
