Ian White is back in the winner’s circle.
In the last Pro Tour event until September, the Unicorn man claimed the title at Players Championship 16 as he beat Darren Webster 6-3 in Barnsley on Wednesday.
It’s White’s second title of 2018, his 9th in all and puts him up to No.11 in the world.
Job done and this will be a huge boost for White ahead of next month’s World Matchplay in Blackpool.
He was always in control of the final....White raced into a 4-1 lead. He hit seven perfect darts in one leg

James Wade reached his third final of the year in Barnsley on Tuesday but couldn’t quite get over the line.
The Team Unicorn star lost 6-2 to Mervyn King in the final of Players Championship 15 after a superb day.
It was King’s first title for almost four years as he averaged 105 to edge out Wade in the final.
Wade banged in a 126 finish on the bull to counter King’s 127 check-out on the bull, but the Unicorn man missed some chances and King took full advantage....from 3-2 in front he won three legs

Ian White and Michael Smith both missed out on the big prize at the latest Players Championship weekend.
Meanwhile Unicorn youngster Adam Hunt enjoyed one of the best senior results of his career, reaching the quarter-finals of PC 14 in Wigan on Sunday.
But it was a case of ‘Double Cross’ for White and Smith over the PC weekend! White was beaten by Rob Cross in Saturday’s final, while Smith was downed by the World Champion in Sunday’s semi-finals.

Team Unicorn Young gun Ted Evetts has claimed his second PDC Unicorn Development title in the space of just two weeks.
And this latest victory takes Evetts back to the top of the PDC Unicorn Development Tour Order of Merit.
He won an all Unicorn final in event 12 as he beat Dimitri van den Bergh 5-2. For the Belgian, it was a second loss in a final over the weekend. He was beaten in DT 9 by Martin Schindler on Saturday.
The German claimed a superb double as he also won event 10 with a 5-1 victory

Unicorn star Michael Smith will begin his defence of the Gibraltar Darts Trophy on Saturday against either Jermaine Wattimena or a Host Nation Qualifier.
Unibet Premier League runner-up Smith claimed his fourth European Tour title at last year’s event, defeating Mensur Suljovic 6-4 in the final – players pictured.
Smith has picked up two ProTour titles so far in 2018 as well as reaching the final of the German Darts Open in April and begins his bid for a first European Tour title of the year on Saturday

They came so close, but for a second time Gary Anderson and Scotland had to settle for runners-up spot in a World Cup.
Anderson and Peter Wright lost out to the Netherlands who defended their title and won the World Cup for a 4th time.
Holland won the final 3-1 as Michael van Gerwen beat Anderson in the reverse singles in Frankfurt on Sunday night.
The Unicorn ace had kept the Scots in the final as he hit five 180s in beating Raymond van Barneveld 4 legs to 1 in the singles.

The biggest tournament in darts is to expand further as the William Hill World Championship grows to include 96 competitors and a record £2.5 million prize fund, including a huge £500,000 to the 2018/2019 champion.

Kyle and Gary Anderson have steered Scotland and Australia into the last eight at the World Cup.
And the Team Unicorn duo remain on course to clash in the semi-finals in Frankfurt.
Kyle led from the front as Australia beat Spain in a thriller to reach the quarter-finals, while Gary was a class act as the Scots dropped just one leg in beating the boys from Brazil.
The Aussies face now Wales and Scotland play Japan.

Team Unicorn duo Kim Huybrechts and Dimitri van den Bergh produced a stunning fightback to keep their World Cup hopes alive.
Belgium came from 0-3 and 2-4 down to beat the Republic of Ireland 5-4 in a thriller.
The game changed in the 6th leg. The Irish duo of Steve Lennon and William O’Connor had left 48 to win the match 5-2......then from nowhere Van den Bergh, who had really struggled in the match, found a fabulous 130 finish on the bull to keep Belgium in the hunt.
