'Play without fear' - Ritchie on year two on tour

By Ryan Segal

Greg Ritchie has said he can 'play without fear' in the second year of his tour card.

The 31 year old Scotsman enjoyed a mixed first season on the Pro Tour, after gaining his maiden card through the Q-School Order of Merit.

He showed glimpses of what he can do, including a 104.45 average against then reigning Grand Prix Champion Mike De Decker at Players Championship 24.

He admits it wasn't quite the year he was hoping for – but he knows what was behind it:

“Simply – I didn't practice as much as I wanted to.

After I got my tour card, it was difficult at times finding the balance between darts and life.

But that's something I've made sure to sort for 2026.”

His targets remain the same as 2025 – with less weighing on his shoulders in trying to achieve them:

“I want to reach some European Tour events, and make the Players Championship Finals and World Championship.

Every player dreams of playing at the Ally Pally, and I'm no exception!”

He's made a bright start to the 2026 season, sitting on the cusp of the qualifying spots for the two aforementioned majors – but says there's one thing he's looking for to forge a successful season.

“It's just consistency.

I know I've got the game to compete, like when I played De Decker in Milton Keynes – It's just about finding it.”
