Darren Beveridge Focused On Keeping His Tour Card

By Ryan Segal

Darren Beveridge has said that the battle to keep his tour card has given him "good drive" ahead of the Hungarian Darts Trophy.

'Ice Cold', who sits 78th in the PDC Order of Merit, travels to Budapest for his first European Tour event of the season, laser focused on securing his spot in the Top 64 by the season's end.

The battle for a spot in the coveted Top 64, is, however, having a positive effect on Beveridge:

"It's given me good drive, to be honest.

I know it's close, and anything can happen - but I'm staying positive and focusing on the job at hand."

That aforementioned pressure is perhaps kept at bay by his philosophy of taking it one game at a time:

"It's just another game that I need to get past in pursuit of keeping my card at the end of the year."

He does, of course, know the stage in Hungary, having made his ET debut at the MVM Dome last year, losing 2-6 to Keane Barry.

That experience, he believes, serves him well coming into the event:

"I feel a lot more relaxed towards it this time.

I know my way around the venue and what the stage is like - so I'm really looking forward to getting back up there.

He faces Wessel Nijman in the seventh and penultimate game of Friday's afternoon session, at approximately 15:00 BST.
