'Absolutely Buzzing' - Leek on joining Team Unicorn

By Ryan Segal

Adam Leek has said he's “absolutely buzzing” to join Team Unicorn as he embarks on his maiden Pro Tour season.

The Australian has burst onto the scene over the last few months, gaining a Tour Card at the first attempt after first coming to the UK for the ADC Global Championship.

He's since taken to the tour like a koala to a eucalyptus tree, throwing a number of 100+ averages early in his PDC career – and he's delighted to join us as he continues his journey:

"I'm absolutely buzzing, to be fair. When I first started watching darts, and buying my own sets of darts and all that, Unicorn was one of the brands that I originally went to. All I bought was Unicorn flights, Unicorn stems - and Unicorn darts.  So to say I'm a Unicorn player - It's pretty crazy."

Of course, his unique journey left him needing to sort out a few important details – which are all under control now:

“I've got it all sorted out now. It's settling down a bit now, and I would say the next month or so I should be fully settled in.  So, yeah, it's good. I'm based in Milton Keynes.”

Many of you will have caught a glimpse of Adam in the first few months of the year – and his unique attire.

He shared the story of how his leek laden polo came to be:

Well, I didn't know what to do, so I went on ChatGPT and had a little bit of fun with it. I typed 'Leek vegetable characters on a Hawaiian-style shirt' - and literally the shirt I've got is from that.

I saw it and just thought 'Yep, that's what I want. Let's do it. It was a quick thing because I had to get it sorted for the ADC Global Championship. I've got the new shirt that's coming out. It's going to look a lot better and it's exciting. It's going to be cleaner, and just generally a bit better.”

And as for what we can expect from an Adam Leek dart:

“I throw a torpedo sort of dart - So, it'll be front-weighted dart. I use quite a heavy dart - it's 26 grams. I can't wait to throw with what Unicorn make for me.”

It's a dart that is guaranteed to be seen on the biggest stage with a World Cup debut guaranteed this year – Something that has him pumped;

“Oh, mate, absolutely. I'm looking forward to be able to represent Australia. It blows my mind. It really does.”

Adam will be back in action at Players Championship 7 on the 30th of March.
